Founded in 2018, the Center for Investigative Journalism (SUJO) at the University of Bergen is the only one of its kind in the Nordic region.
Our mission is to strengthen the investigative journalism in Norwegian editorial offices, particularly in local and regional media.
To achieve this, the Centre facilitates education in the craft, culture, and methodology of the journalism in question.
The Centre offers a Master’s- and an Executive Master’s programme in Investigative Journalism.
The latter includes courses on in-depth research, project conceptualization and execution, data analysis and programming. Additionally, we organize a variety of workshops for journalists and editors.
The Centre is located at Media City Bergen, a leading international hub for media and technology innovation, and has MediaFutures Research Centre as its nearest neighbour.
We are a part of the the department of Information Science and Media Studies at the University of Bergen.
Since 2020, SUJO has been a part of the Global Investigative Journalism Network, and is also cooperating with the Nordic Press Centre and the American University in Washington D.C.
